Science crossing the boundaries «INFORMATICS. CULTURE. ENGINEERING»
From among the total number of 80 participants representing both scientific and practical fields’ specialists of Ukrainian and German Universities, the international forum hosted 20 Professors and students from ONPU partner Universities of applied sciences in Berlin, Erfurt and Augsburg. More than 40 key topics presented by the participants were devoted to priority questions of museums’ and exhibitions’ technical support, interactive cooperation and learning systems’ arrangement, creation of the enterprises’ intellectual resources on the integrated cloud technologies’ basis, mobile robotics engineering and use, contemporary information technologies applied at medical equipment and devices.
The conference programme included not only a rich thematic area of topics presentations and scientific discussions but also several notable events, like the awarding the Berlin University of Applied Sciences’ Professor Jurgen Sieck the Odessa National Polytechnic University Doctor Honoris Causa title just at the plenary session opening. Speaking about that award, the representative of the “Bayerisches Haus” German Culture Center in Odessa city Svetlana Bogdanova underlined high significance of such action for further promotion of close cooperative links between the scientific community of Odessa and the German colleagues.
Apart of purely scientific programme, there was held a round-table meeting of both countries’ Universities leaders, where the German participants list included the HTW Berlin President Professor M. Heine, the HTW Berlin Scientific Center Head Professor J. Sieck, the Augsburg Applied Sciences University Professor T.Scholer. The Ukrainian part of round-table session included the ONPU Rector Professor G.Oborsky, the ONPU German-Ukrainian Institute Director Professor V.Semeniuk, the ONPU Institute of Computing Systems Director Professor S.Antoschuk and others.
The open and active dialogue of meeting participants considered both the analysis of bilateral cooperation experience accumulated and the elaboration of further directions of that efficient linking and cooperative activities’ promotion, like the project of creating a joint scientific and educational center “Culture and Informatics” at HTW Berlin and ONPU. The training process’ integration aspects being one of high priority issues, the double Diplomas frame is enlarged with a new programme for Masters in the field of “Informatics and culture”. There was discussed and agreed the prospects of the partners’ further academic mobility involving teaching staff and students, joint training programmes and bilateral supervision of international Ph.D. students.
Increase in the cooperative scope is evidently illustrated with the creation of a new “Culture and Informatics” Department at the ONPU German-Ukrainian Institute, joint researcher and designer projects in the field of interactive visual media communications, creative technologies and e-learning systems, the tradition of joint practices, summer schools and conferences in high priority topics.
At the Conference closing the participants summarized that those joint activities’ outcomes do comprehensively confirm the stable and consistent progress of the Odessa National Polytechnic University’s international cooperation.
The Conference’s interesting cultural progamme organized by ONPU Humanities’ Faculty Dean Professor G. Bakanursky included visits to the Odessa city Museum of Modern Arts, to the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater and the Philharmonic Hall (where a folkloric musical performance was given), several exciting excursions and guided tours of the Odessa city historic and monumental sightseeing.
