"Chayka" - Center of Recreation and Tourism
The implementation of the EU project "International Students Center of Recreation and Tourism: the way to healthy nation (ISCRT)» MIS ETC-1118 is in progress within the framework of the Cross Border Cooperation Programme “Romania - Ukraine - Republic of Moldova 2007-2013” with the key phrase "Common borders. Common solutions".
Rector of Odessa National Polytechnic University Gennadii Oborskyi has announced this information in the press conference that was held during the conference on the students health improvement and the development of youth tourism: European experience and its adaptation to Ukraine.
According to the words of G. Oborskyi "Ukraine received more than 518 thousand Euro (more than 5 million 345 thousand UAH) as the first tranche from EU for the implementation of this EU project. The total amount of the Grant for the reconstruction of the university sports and recreation complex "Chayka", where a new environment for the recreation of a thousand students from Ukraine and Romania will be created, for Tourist information center creation, web portal creation and other activities is 1 million 788 thousand 590 Euro (18 465 045,442 UAH). This amount will be provided by the European Union during 2012-2014.
The Rector also has noticed that "experts have started the project design work for the six modern 2-storey buildings construction on a 21.5-hectares area of the complex "Chayka", including a summer educational school construction, conference hall for meetings and discussions construction, the reconstruction of 58 students cottages and reconstruction of sports area of the recreation center in accordance with European standards. “Starting the implementation of the EU project, - emphasized the rector G.Oborskyi, "representatives of the Ukrainian and Romanian universities - Odessa Polytechnic University and the University" Stefan cel Mare " of Suceava were obeyed by the fact that" the way of integration into the European community was officially proclaimed as strategic vector of the development of Ukraine". The initiative was subscribed by the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Odessa regional state administration, which includes some departments as associate partners in the implementation of this EU project. Together with the Odessa National Polytechnic University the project is implemented by Odessa Regional Disabled People Association and Association of Journalists “European alternative".
"After the finish of the university complex "Chayka" reconstruction, - the project manager Valeriy Lebid has said, - in this recreation center the new environment will be created not only for the recreation of students, including at least a hundred young people with disabilities from Ukraine and Romania, but also for the educational summer school functioning and international forums holding. Also V. Lebid has noticed, that during the project the tourist information center will be created to ensure equal access to tourism information and services, youth tourist web portal will be created, which will promote the development of the international student discount system ISIC and EURO<26 in Ukraine, and another major events will be organized ".
