ONPU and international cooperation
The coordination meeting of the international project ISCRT « The International Student Center for recreation and tourism: the way to healthy nation" was held in Odessa on June 18-19, 2012. This project is founded by the European Union within the Joint Operational Programme Romania-Ukraine-Republic of Moldova 2007-2013. The duration of the project is 2 years with a budget over €1.8 million. The project started on May 25, 2012.
The applicant of this project is Odessa National Polytechnic University. Its partners are the Association of the journalists “European alternative”, Odessa regional disabled people organization of All-Ukrainian organization of “Disabled people organizations’ union”, “Stefan Cel Mare” University of Suceava, Suceava University Student’s Association – A.S.U.S. (Romania)
The main activities of the project are: large-scale reconstruction of the student sport and recreation complex “Chaika” according to European standards, the creation of barrier-free environment for students with disabilities, holding 2 international conferences popularizing student recreation and tourism, holding an international student forum with Romanian students, the creation of Youth international travel portal and the Tourist Information Centre for students and youth, the development of a student discount systems ISIC and EURO <26 and an organization of information campaign. In the pilot phase of the project 1,000 students from Ukraine (among them 100 students with disabilities) and 100 students from Romania, (among them 50 students with disabilities) will be revitalized.
We emphasize that our university became the applicant in such projects for the first time.
